Educating the Next Generation of Therapy Experts

Congratulations to Transitional Care of Arlington Heights occupational therapists, Barry Brenner (left) and Steve Jankowiak (right), who were honored as the co-recipients of the 2018 Cynthia Hughes Harris Fieldwork Educator Award

Cynthia Hughes Harris was the founding chairperson of the Rush University Department of Occupational Therapy. Dedicated to her, Rush University established the Cynthia Hughes Harris Fieldwork Educator Award to honor teachers and mentors who demonstrate excellence in fieldwork education.

Rush University students, Paige Panfil (pictured below with Steve) and Nicole Swiderski (not pictured), submitted winning nomination essays about Steve and Barry’s exceptional work in modeling outstanding dedication, enthusiasm and clinical skills during their internships at Transitional Care. Both students passed their professional development internships with flying colors, and Paige will return to Transitional Care as a full-time therapist after she passes her boards this month.
