Edema is a common symptom that can occur from an acute care episode or a chronic condition. This presentation discusses therapeutic considerations related to edema management in patient care that include: determining etiology of edema and pertinent diagnoses, determining appropriate therapy interventions and identifying contraindications. Transitioning from cute to chronic management of edema and proper use of compression garments or the equivalent are also explored.
